Frank O. Staiger Distinguished Kiwanian Award

Frank O. Staiger was an exceptional Michigan District Secretary for 26 years prior to 1960. He was instrumental in helping make the organization what it is today. The Foundation honored him with this tribute for all his contributions to Kiwanis and the Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation.

The recipient of the award must be recommended with an article explaining his or her achievements in Kiwanis. This article and a 5×7 photograph is placed in the book of honor, on permanent display in the District Office. The recipient also receives a personal plaque and lapel pin.

The idea of a Photographic Distinguished Kiwanian Book was presented to the Trustees of The Forney W. Clement Memorial Foundation, Inc. by Richard J. Penberthy, Past Governor of the Michigan of Kiwanis International at a meeting of the Board of Trustees on August 23, 1973; as a medium through which Kiwanis clubs, individuals or corporations could permanently honor certain Kiwanis members. This can be done in two ways: through memorializing deceased Kiwanis club leaders and by honoring members who are currently contributing or have contributed greatly to Kiwanis in the past.

The display of a photograph with a description of the individual’s activities on a sheet of club stationary will indicate that a monetary gift has been given in his or her name.

The Photographic Distinguished Kiwanian Book will be displayed permanently in the office of the Michigan District of Kiwanis International and will be on display at each of the District Conventions. The funds thus received will be set aside in a special fund, invested, and the income used as a part of the operating budget of the Foundation.

Funds contributed to the Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation through the Distinguished Kiwanian Photographic Book by individuals or corporations are deductible under the provisions of Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
